Information Day & Brokerage event on Horizon 2020 – Smart Cities and Communities 2015 Work Programme
A new call for proposals for Smart Cities and Communities under Horizon 2020 opened on 10 December 2014 (deadline for submitting proposals is 5 May 2015). It calls for proposals in two topics: SCC-01-2015: Smart Cities and Communities solutions integrating energy, transport and ICT sectors through lighthouse (large scale demonstration – first of the kind) projects and SCC-03-2015: Development of system standards for smart cities and communities solutions.
The information day will take place on 12 February 2015 in the morning and will:
- Inform participants about the call objectives, requirements and specificities
- Provide relevant insights and lessons learnt from the 2014 SCC call.
- Please note that registration is closed as the venue capacity has been reached.
The agenda of the event is now available in the documents below. Please note that only the participants that have received a confirmation letter will be able to enter the venue.
Registrations will start at 08:30. In the afternoon after 14:00, a brokerage event will provide a chance for people to discuss, exchange ideas, network and meet potential partners to create new or strengthen existing consortia.
For those not able to attend in person web-streaming will be provided.

Meetings of the Action Clusters
The Market Place of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities invites all its committers to join the next physical meetings of the Action Clusters.
The meetings will take place in Brussels on the 11th and 13th February 2015, coinciding with the Information Day & Brokerage Event on Horizon 2020 – Smart Cities and Communities 2015 Work Programme, which will be held on the 12th.
Personal invitations to the members of the Action Clusters have been sent. The online registration is already open.

Smart City - Interest Group Bavaria
27 representatives from public authorities, research and business took part in the kick off event of the Bavarian regional interest group for Smart City solutions in Munich, Germany on November 25th 2014.
After the keynote speeches the participants gave a brief introduction about their backgrounds and their experiences as well as their opinions on Smart City topics. Four themes have emerged as priority areas:
Smart Mobility: Multi-modality mobility services with integration of private providers and public transport; management of parking spaces
Smart Environment: Energy management via virtual power plants and for smart grids, specifically applied to residential areas; networking infrastructure / building / industrial facilities
Smart Living: Energy and heat control, with the help of sensors; Safety and comfort solutions with sensor floor in private buildings environment
Smart Governance: E-Government; E-Participation
All participants agreed that the technological possibilities of ICT are of great importance. In addition, the citizens' enthusiasm for the success of the smart city initiatives is crucial. The City of Munich regards the "Smart City-Interest Group Bavaria" as a competent platform for exchanging ideas and suggestions.
The regional interest group will meet again in February 2015

CLINES Project at Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona
From the 18th to the 20th of November it took place the last edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.
Some members of the European CLINES Project assisted there:

They had had several meetings with worldwide entities that also had assisted to this Congress, some examples of these companies are some from USA, United Kingdom, and Mexico.
All the members of this project agree with the good experience of assisting to the Smart City Expo World Congress of Barcelona, and with the opportunities they detected there around Smart City concept.

Forum: Smart Metering and Smart Building Applications

These issues and other important aspects around the topics “ Smart Metering” and “ Smart Building Applications” are adressed by the cluster energy technology, the E | Home Center, the BICCnet and Bayern Innovative GmbH in this joint cooperation forum.
